The aim of a children’s yoga class is to maintain a child’s natural flexibility while increasing their physical and mental strength, stamina and poise. Children’s poses, such as the Crescent Moon, Stalking Cheetah and Sleeping Dove work, on improving the function of the immune system and stimulating the nervous system as they directly target the lymphatic drainage points in the body. The postures practiced are done in a fun child-friendly way. The class structure starts with relaxation and breath practice then continues with a series of postures told through a story or song. The content depends on age and ability which, of course, can be modified to ability. All classes are carried out in a positive and caring way as I want children leaving the class to be inspired after exploring their creativity and imagination, both of which are needed to support their emotional and physical well-being.
